THAI MARIONETTE

For lovers of puppetry, collectors of puppets, and those interested in Asian culture, here is an authentic puppet from Thailand.

This puppet was purchased by my sister during her travels to Asia, and gifted to me as I am a collector of unique puppets. This fellow has been literally hanging around, waiting for someone who may love him actively.

This marionette's head, neck, and hands are wooden and lacquered so that they have the appearance of porcelain. In Thai fashion, he is dressed in rich clothing befitting his status as a God in Thai lore, or perhaps he is a king. The neck and head of this puppet are segmented to that you may swivel the head from side to side. The lines that hold and move the marionette are made of gold thick gold metal thread and they move the head and hands. I cannot find any part of the moving mechanisms that connect or move to the legs. The guidelines are held by a wooden master control. The puppet's outfit is RICHLY beaded and sequined. The shoes and crown are painted.
