"Heart Messenger" Wooden Owl Plaque

The world of winter has always belonged to the magical forest, in my mind. So every Yuletide, I paint magical forest animals in their winter landscape.

This handpainted, one of a kind piece shows my "picture in picture technique." Here, a barn owl shows a flying barn owl within it. The flying owl carries a heart as it flies over an old village, in front of a full moon. The story is based on an old Hungarian folk tale my mother used to tell me.

This piece is made of wood that has been cut, sanded, primed and painted in acrylics based on my own original design. It is then varnished.
